Although life coaching has been around for a while, there is still some confusion about what a life coach does and doesn't do. Read on to learn more about the benefits and limitations of life coaching.
A life coach IS an accountability partner and facilitator. Coaches empower clients by helping them develop a clear vision of the future and create actionable steps that will get them there. Coaches can also serve as a guide in self-discovery. The coach-client relationship is an equal partnership, and the coach does not assert him or herself as an expert in the client's life. Life coaching is action-oriented and future-focused. Not everyone is ready for life coaching. Clients who will benefit from life coaching are those who desire to make a change, are open to input, and willing to commit to taking forward action.
Life coaching IS NOT therapy. Life coaches cannot diagnose clients or treat any form of mental illness (e.g., depression, anxiety, personality disorders, etc.). Whereas therapy tends to focus on dissecting past issues, coaching is future-focused and action-oriented. Life coaches are also not consultants or mentors. Coaches do not advise clients on specific courses of action. The client is seen as the expert in his or her life!

According the 2018 Gallup National Health and Well-Being Index, well-being has been declining across the U.S. for a few years. The Index measures five interrelated elements that make up well-being: physical, community, financial, social, and career (or purpose) well-being. Career (or purpose) well-being and social well-being are the seen as primary reasons for this steady decrease in overall well-being.
Dan Witters, research director of the Gallup National Health and Well-Being Index, noted in the Gallup Podcast that career (or purpose) well-being is perhaps the most influential factor in overall well-being. He said that career influences overall satisfaction more so than the other four elements. In other words, if you don’t feel a clear sense of purpose and meaning in your life, it’s going to have a significant impact on your physical well-being, financial well-being, and so on. This underscores the importance of having a strong sense of life purpose.
Based on the findings of this Index, it’s safe to say that many people across the U.S. lack a sense of meaning and purpose in life. I am here to tell you that your life has enormous meaning!
You were not born by mistake. Contrary to popular belief, it’s actually pretty difficult to get pregnant (I know this from personal experience), and it’s kind of a miracle that any of us made it here at all. This is why I know each of us is on this planet for a reason. But many are not clear on their purpose in life or struggle with the confidence needed to walk their own path.
You are a unique individual with a massive amount of skills, strengths, and talents. Unfortunately, many people deny their importance and downplay their abilities, and they interpret this as having no real purpose in life. It’s time you discover, uncover, and amplify all that is unique and valuable within you.
If you're a person who is living in life's doldrums, I’m glad you’re taking the first step toward finding your purpose and searching for a life coach. Whether it's me or someone else, a coach can help you reach your potential and live a fulfilling and satisfying life.
Finding your soul-driven purpose applies to more than just what you choose as a profession. There is a perceived harmony and balance within you when you’re in alignment with your soul's path. You feel a deep sense of satisfaction and fulfillment when you know that you’re living in agreement with your core values and beliefs.
So, whether you’ve hit a rut in life (or you’ve been in one your whole life), now is the time to find your way out of it! Life doesn’t have to be unfulfilling, boring, and disappointing. It can be interesting, gratifying, and full of possibilities. Now is the time to act! Take the bold step toward fulfilling your soul-driven purpose today.
Making the decision to hire a life coach can be a transformative experience. Finding the right life coach, one that specializes in your area of need, is imperative to your success. I specialize in working with adult women who are in a transition or seek a more fulfilling life. These transitions include:
My mission is simple—to help my clients discover their soul’s purpose, increase life satisfaction, and balance all areas of life: mind, body, and spirit.
I work alongside my clients—as a partner and an equal. You know your life best, and only you know what makes you truly happy. I am here to walk with you as you realize what excites you most about life. As partners in discovery, we’ll uncover what lights your soul on fire, what is meaningful for you, and what stimulates your mind and creativity. When you’re aligned with your true life purpose, every part of you should feel balanced—mind, body, and spirit.
My methods elicit highly effective conversations that maximize your time and capacity to realize your desired changes. These conversations should spark a deeper sense of self-knowing and help you gain insight into your inner truth and purpose.
Together we’ll identify the obstacles, limiting beliefs, and “gremlins” that hold you back. We'll develop targeted strategies to overcome each obstacle and lead you toward powerful possibilities. I believe EVERY person has unique skills and talents, most of which remain untapped. We’ll uncover your gifts and make the most of your strengths. At the end of our journey, you should feel confident in yourself, boldly stand in your power, and achieve long-lasting happiness and life satisfaction.
